    Is the 9446a Amp a good sounding Amp for Home use?Are the Fans very noisy?

    The original Altec Anniversary Series amplifier was the 9444A - sounded great! MUCH better than the 9444B!

    However - I have also been VERY pleased with the sound of the 9442A, which came out shortly after the 9444A. It is convection cooled (no fan), so it works really well where noise is a factor and you don't need as much power as the 9444A/B.

    I agree with Todd on the 9442's. I use a couple of them on my HF horns in my PA.

    I have 4 of the 9446 amps, they are ok sounding, I just used them for subs though. Now they sit and hold down the floor. I really should do something with them!
